Locking up, Locking Down and now Looking Forward
3 months away from the clinic and wow…hasn’t time flown. Having to close the doors to the clinic back in March was one of the easiest yet toughest decision I've had to make. An emerging pandemic and the fear of putting myself, my family, staff and patients at increased risk of contracting COVID 19 made it a simple decision in the end. However, to work so hard for 7 and a half years to create a business on the cusp of sky rocketing to a place I’d only dreamed of, the decision to close was an emotional one.
We had recently taken on Liam, our fantastic sports therapist who was beginning to build his patient load. Our awesome massage therapist Clare was getting busier and busier each week. And we were just about to take on Hayley to teach Yoga classes from April.
In all honesty, the transition from full time business owner/physio to full time house husband was pretty tough. The first few weeks I tortured myself to breaking point, frustrated at my attempts to work on the business. Time seemed to evaporate in front of my eyes with 2 children under the age of 3 hungry for my time. I watched other healthcare businesses online, adapting to the COVID crisis by going virtual and it was breaking me.
How can they be doing this I thought, and here’s me “sat”, or rather running, around after my children all day. By the boys bedtime, my ability to concentrate had been sucked away from the previous 12 hour shift at the babysitter unit. I should have had more time and yet, I didn’t.
The 10 minute free workouts pretty much epitomise my time in lockdown...
Attempting to “work” whilst looking after my children.
The aim was to get everyone up out of their chair for 10 minutes a day and release some feel good factor endorphins. Perhaps endorphins weren’t released by joining in...more so tuning in to watch my sons attempt to “ruin” my efforts to get people exercising. At least it brought a smile to your face though.
The creation of the online Pilates classes has proved a huge success and this is something that will continue following the reintroduction of face to face classes, whenever this may be. There were a few early teething problems with set up but I thank you all for bearing with me. You can still sign up for these classes with further info on the website. Just £15 a month for 3 sessions a week is an absolute bargain.
Now is the time though that we return to the clinic and open the doors with a degree of caution. We are not out of the woods quite yet so will be offering virtual and face to face appointments. For those in the moderate to high risk groups or shielding, we recommend a virtual appointment. There will be a triage process for every patient among many other changes at the clinic, from the booking process to the process at the clinic itself so please bear with us.
I’d just like to thank you for all your continued support and patience at this time. We understand that some of you may have been experiencing pain throughout lockdown and I can only apologise for not being able to assist you. Now though, all that’s left to say is….Back2front Physiotherapy is back open and ready to help you turn your back on pain!
Thanks,
